The 2026 notice also adds a separate post, Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF, open to men only, with its own age limit and qualification. All posts carry Pay Level-6 (₹35,400–₹1,12,400). SI in Delhi Police is classified as Group ‘C’ by Delhi Police; SI (GD) in CAPFs and SI (Fire) in CISF are Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted), Non-Ministerial.

SSC’s Important Notice dated 01.10.2026 lists the “Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026” CBE for 20 to 28 November 2026. These are proposed dates for the whole examination. They are not your personal date, shift or centre. The examination notice itself had said only that the CBE schedule would be notified later.

Exam City & Admission Certificate Status

Not released yet. The notice of examination says:

  • Information about the time table and the city/centre is uploaded on the website of the concerned SSC Regional Office about 10 days before the exam date.

Medical / Document Verification

Candidates who qualify in Paper-II go through a Detailed Medical Examination (DME), with a Review Medical Examination for those found unfit. Document verification is done by the CAPFs, preferably along with the DME/RME. The notice’s medical standards are:

  • Near vision: N6 in the better eye and N9 in the worse eye.
  • Distant vision: 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the worse eye, without glasses or any vision-correcting surgery.
  • No knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint, and high colour vision.
  • Tattoos are allowed only within the notice’s rules on content, location (left forearm or back of the hand) and size.

Male candidates who opt for Delhi Police must bring a driving licence for motorcycle and car, issued before the PST/PET date, to document verification.

Salary & Pay Level

All three posts carry Pay Level-6, ₹35,400–₹1,12,400, plus admissible allowances as per Government rules. The notice does not state an in-hand figure.

How to Check the Exam Schedule / Admit Card

  1. Check the SSC notice board at ssc.gov.in for schedule changes. The 01.10.2026 notice is the latest one for this exam.
  2. About 10 days before the exam, check the website of your SSC Regional Office for your city/centre information.
  3. 2–3 days before your exam, download the admission certificate from the SSC website and print it.
  4. Carry the printout and the required ID. If you have not done Aadhaar-based authentication, also carry two photographs and report two hours early.

Career Growth & Work Profile

SI in Delhi Police is a supervisory rank in a metropolitan police force. Typical work includes investigating cases at police stations, leading beat and patrol staff, handling law-and-order and traffic arrangements, and court and records work tied to investigations. The notice notes that a male candidate without a valid motorcycle-and-car driving licence on the PE&MT date is eligible for SI in CAPFs only, not Delhi Police.

SI (GD) in the CAPFs (BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB) is a supervisory rank in an armed force. Depending on the force, the work involves border guarding, internal security and counter-insurgency deployments, or security of industrial and strategic installations. The notice states that SIs in CAPFs are liable to serve anywhere in India.

SI (Fire) in CISF is a fire-service role. That is why it needs a Science degree (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or an engineering diploma rather than any graduation.

All selected candidates must pass seven obstacle events during training (vertical board, rope, Tarzan swing, horizontal board, parallel rope, monkey crawl, vertical rope), or they may not be retained in the force. Promotion depends on each force’s service rules, departmental courses and vacancies; the notice does not promise a timeline.

Historical Cut-Off Trends

SSC’s official result write-up for the 2025 cycle Paper-I (dated 30.03.2026, CBE held 9–12 December 2025) gives these cut-off marks for shortlisting to PET/PST. They are normalized marks, out of a 200-mark Paper-I.

Category Female Male
UR 128.01610 119.47517
OBC 124.22057 115.02519
EWS 126.55856 114.60115
SC 100.91972 88.95164
ST 95.19641 89.06234
ESM 40.00000 40.00000

In 2025, 4,320 women and 44,067 men were shortlisted for PET/PST, along with 228 departmental candidates of Delhi Police. The departmental UR cut-off was 127.92622.

Important: the 2026 Paper-I is a different paper. It has 100 questions for 100 marks in one hour, against 200 questions and 200 marks in 2025. The 2025 figures are not directly comparable and are not a 2026 target. SSC has not published any 2026 cut-off.

Post-Specific Selection Nuances

  • Delhi Police driving licence (men): male candidates must hold a valid LMV licence (motorcycle and car) on the date fixed for the PE&MT to be eligible for SI in Delhi Police. Without it, a male candidate can only be considered for SI in CAPFs.
  • SI (Fire) in CISF is different: men only, age 18–30, and a B.Sc. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or Matriculation plus a 3-year diploma in a listed engineering branch.
  • PET/PST is qualifying only. Ex-Servicemen skip the PET but take the PST.
  • NCC bonus marks: NCC certificate holders (as on the closing date) get bonus marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, added to normalized scores: ‘C’ certificate 5%, ‘B’ 3% and ‘A’ 2% of the maximum marks.
  • Merit: Paper-I decides PET/PST shortlisting. Para 16.8 of the notice says final selection and force allocation are based on Paper-II performance (with NCC bonus) and your post/force preferences. The tie-break rule in para 17.1 refers to the Paper-I + Paper-II aggregate.
  • Preferences are final: post/force preferences are taken through an online option form after the Paper-II result. They cannot be changed later, and you are not considered for a force you did not opt for.
  • Vacancies are tentative. SSC does not allocate them State-wise, region-wise or zone-wise.
