B.Sc. in Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / Information Technology / Instrumentation (or a combination of these streams), or a three-year Diploma in Engineering in these basic streams (or their combination), or a Degree in Engineering in these streams (or their combination).
Technician Grade-III (Level 2)
For almost every Grade-III category: Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in a trade listed for that category, or Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in that trade. The accepted trades differ by category:

The fee had to be paid separately for each pay level applied for. Only candidates who attend the CBT get the refund. EBC is not the same as OBC or EWS.
Selection Process (CEN 02/2026)
Computer Based Test (CBT) → Document Verification (DV) → Medical Examination.
- There is a separate CBT for each pay level — one for Technician Gr I Signal (Level 5) and one for Technician Gr III (Level 2). The CEN does not describe a second-stage CBT.
- Shortlisting for DV and Medical Examination is RRB-wise at 1:1 of the vacancies, based on CBT merit.
- Marks are normalised when the CBT is held in multiple shifts.
- Minimum marks for eligibility: UR 40%, EWS 40%, OBC (NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25% (may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage).
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark for each wrong answer.
Aadhaar on exam day (RRB notice 10.09.2026)
Aadhaar-linked biometric authentication is done at the centre before entry. Bring the original Aadhaar card or a printout of the e-verified Aadhaar, keep your Aadhaar unlocked in the UIDAI system, and make sure your Aadhaar details are updated.

Applications Are Closed — What Registered Candidates Should Do Now
- Log in at rrbapply.gov.in to see your application status (provisionally accepted, conditionally accepted or rejected with reasons). RRB made it visible from 11.09.2026.
- Complete Aadhaar verification from your login if not already done, and keep your Aadhaar unlocked.
- Check your exam city & date through the official RRB city-intimation link. RRB’s notice dated 27.09.2026 says it is live. SC/ST candidates can download the Travel Authority there.
- Download your e-call letter when it opens, about 4 days before your exam date.

- New official notice (04.10.2026): Grade-III CBT that was scheduled at Akhil Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Nursing, Sikar on 6 and 7 October 2026 will be held on the same dates at Khwaja Gharib Nawaz College of Nursing, Near Sabalpura Power House, Fatehpur Road, NH 11, Sikar, Rajasthan-332001. RRB says SMS, e-mail and voice calls are being sent to affected candidates. There is no change for other candidates.

Exam Day Instructions (official RRB notices)
- Aadhaar-linked biometric authentication is done at the centre before entry to the exam hall. Bring your original Aadhaar card or a printout of the e-verified Aadhaar (RRB notices 10.09.2026 and 27.09.2026).

Historical Cut-Off Trends
RRBs publish cut-offs RRB-wise and category-wise with results; an earlier cycle’s cut-off is not an expected cut-off for CEN 02/2026.
Post-Specific Selection Nuances
- Grade-I and Grade-III are different pay levels with different papers, age limits (33 vs 30) and initial pay (₹29,200 vs ₹19,900).
- Medical standards differ by category — A3 (Track Machine), B1, B2 (Crane Driver) or C1 (workshop and PU posts). There is no alternative appointment if you are unfit for the opted post.
- Qualification is trade-specific. An ITI in the wrong trade does not qualify for that category.
- Negative marking is 1/3 per wrong answer; DV shortlisting is 1:1 RRB-wise.
