Selection process (as per the official notification)
- Preliminary Examination (online, objective) — 100 questions, 100 marks, 60 minutes. Candidates must qualify in each test by securing the minimum cut-off marks set by IBPS.
- Main Examination (online) — objective tests of 170 questions / 200 marks / 160 minutes, plus a descriptive paper (essay and comprehension) of 2 questions / 25 marks / 30 minutes.
- Personality Test and Interview — the interview carries 100 marks; the minimum qualifying marks are not less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates).
- Final merit — Main Examination and Interview are weighted 80:20. Marks in the Main Examination only are considered for shortlisting and final merit.
Negative marking: for each wrong answer in the objective tests, one fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question is deducted. No penalty for an unattempted question.
Provisional allotment is scheduled for January 2027 (tentative).

IBPS updated the indicative vacancy position twice after the notification — corrigenda dated 20 July 2026 and 27 August 2026. The 27 August 2026 Annexure I is the latest bank-wise position (see the Vacancy Details tab). These figures are indicative and anticipated as communicated by the participating banks; provisional allotment is made on the actual vacancies they report.
What candidates should do now
- Keep your Main Examination call letter, the authenticated preliminary call letter and your ID proof safely; IBPS may ask for them at later stages.
- Watch only the official IBPS CRP PO/MT-XVI page for the Main result and the interview schedule. No date has been announced yet.
- You can check your preliminary exam scores through the official IBPS score login until 28 October 2026. The preliminary result-status window closed on 30 September 2026.
- Enter your login details only on the official IBPS site (ibpsreg.ibps.in). SarkariResultAlertInfo does not ask for them.
- The preliminary examination is qualifying: the notification states that only Main Examination marks are considered for shortlisting and final merit.
