Application Fee and Refund
| Category | Fee | Refund after appearing in CBT |
|---|---|---|
| All candidates (except those below) | âš500 | âš400, less bank charges |
| SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Minorities, Economically Backward Class (EBC) | âš250 | âš250, less bank charges |
- Payment is online only â internet banking, debit/credit card or UPI. Service charges are borne by the candidate.
- Only candidates who actually appear in the CBT get the refund.
- EBC is not the same as OBC or EWS. RRB warns that EBC should not be confused with OBC/EWS, or with the Extremely Backward Class certificate issued by some states. An EBC fee concession needs a valid document (EBC certificate in Annexure IIIA, BPL card, Izzat MST or a certificate under a recognised poverty-alleviation programme) at the time of applying.
- Each use of the modification window (17â26 October 2026) costs âš250, non-refundable.
Selection Process
Single-stage CBT â Document Verification (DV) â Medical Examination â Empanelment. RRB reserves the right to conduct additional CBTs if considered necessary.
CBT pattern
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Professional Ability | 70 | 70 |
| General Awareness | 10 | 10 |
| General Arithmetic, General Intelligence & Reasoning | 10 | 10 |
| General Science | 10 | 10 |
| Total | 100 | 100 |
- Duration: 90 minutes for 100 questions; 120 minutes for PwBD candidates eligible for a scribe.
- Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- The section distribution is indicative; RRB says the question paper may vary.
- Minimum qualifying marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC (NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%. May be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates if PwBD candidates are short against reserved vacancies.
- Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for DV, strictly on CBT merit.
- Tie-break: the older candidate ranks higher; if age is the same, alphabetical order of the given name.
Syllabus Guidance
70 of the 100 marks come from Professional Ability, which is post-specific. The official post-wise syllabus is in Annexure C of CEN 05/2026 â prepare from that annexure for your post, not from a general railway syllabus.
The remaining 30 marks are common to all posts: General Awareness (10), General Arithmetic with General Intelligence & Reasoning (10) and General Science (10). RRB states that questions will generally match the educational and professional standard prescribed for the post.

- Fill the application, capture the live photograph as instructed, upload the required scanned documents and pay the fee online.
- Submit by 14 October 2026, 23:59 hours; pay the fee by 16 October 2026. Save a copy of the submitted application.

Full Details
Before You Apply: Four Checks
- Post: match your qualification to the exact Annexure A wording for one of the nine posts. Registration requirements (Nursing Council, Pharmacy Act, RCI, optometry council) are part of eligibility.
- RRB: you can pick only one RRB. Check Annexure B to see whether your post has vacancies there.
- Medical standard: each post has its own standard; there is no alternative posting if you are unfit for the opted post.
- Dates: apply by 14 October 2026 (23:59); fee by 16 October 2026.
Career Growth & Work Profile

Historical Cut-Off Trends
RRBs publish cut-offs RRB-wise and post-wise with each result, and an earlier cycle’s cut-off is not a prediction of the CEN 05/2026 cut-off.
Post-Specific Selection Nuances
- One RRB only. Your RRB choice decides which vacancy pool you compete in, and it cannot be modified later.
- Qualification cut-off date is 14 October 2026. A result declared after that date does not count.
- Professional Ability carries 70% of the CBT. Post-specific knowledge decides most of the merit.
- Negative marking is 1/3 per wrong answer.
- DV is at 1:1 of vacancies, followed by a medical examination against the post’s medical standard.
- Vacancies are provisional and may change before final allotment.
