The requirement candidates forget
Local language proficiency. Most participating RRBs require you to be proficient in the official language of the state you are applying to, and this is verified at the document-verification stage — not at the application stage. Confirm the language condition for your chosen RRB inside the notification before you apply.
Updated indicative vacancies as on 15.09.2026 (IBPS Annexure I). Tripura Gramin Bank, shown as "not reported" in the 1 September notification, now lists 39 Office Assistant posts, which takes the total from 13,706 to 13,745. Officer figures are unchanged. IBPS states these vacancies are indicative. Provisional allotment will be made on the actual vacancies reported by the RRBs.

Read this before you pick a bank: these are national totals. IBPS publishes a separate state-wise and RRB-wise annexure inside the notification PDF, and you can apply to only one RRB per post. A state with 40 Office Assistant seats and a state with 900 are both inside the 8,222 figure — check the annexure, not the headline.
Officer Scale-II is further split into General Banking Officer and Specialist Officer streams (IT, CA, Law, Treasury, Marketing, Agricultural Officer), each with its own qualification requirement.

Payment rules
- Fee is paid online only — debit card, credit card, net banking, IMPS, cash cards or mobile wallets. No offline challan.
- The fee must be paid on or before 27 September 2026 (extended by the IBPS corrigendum dated 21.09.2026). An application saved but not paid for is not a valid application.
- The fee is non-refundable and cannot be carried forward to a later CRP.
- If your payment is debited but the receipt does not generate, do not pay twice — wait for the transaction to reconcile, then re-check your application status on the IBPS portal.

Two things that decide your result
- The prelims score is thrown away. For Office Assistant and Scale-I, prelims only decides who sits the Main. Your entire ranking comes from the Main Exam.
- Negative marking is 0.25 of the mark for every wrong answer across the objective papers, and sectional cut-offs apply — clearing the overall total is not enough.
Step-by-step: applying before 27 September
- Open the CRP RRBs section on ibps.in and choose the link for the post you want. Office Assistant and Officer applications are separate forms — you may apply for both, and you pay for both.
- Register with a new ID. Enter your name exactly as printed on your Class 10 certificate. A mismatch here is the most common reason for rejection at document verification.
- Note your Registration Number and Password. They are sent by SMS and email, and you will need them for the admit card in November. Save them somewhere permanent now.
- Upload your documents in the prescribed formats before you start filling the form, so you are not resizing files against the clock.
- Choose your RRB and state carefully. This choice is effectively final and it determines your local-language requirement and your real competition ratio.
- Pay the fee online and download the e-receipt.
- Download and save the final PDF of the submitted application. Print one copy; some banks ask for it at joining.

Regional Rural Bank posts are state-linked: you apply for a specific RRB and, in most cases, you must be proficient in that state’s local language. That makes the RRB exam the most realistic banking opportunity for candidates who want to work close to home, and it is why the Office Assistant cadre alone carries 8,222 of this year’s seats.
