Age and Qualification

Age: Maximum 57 years as on 31 August 2026.

Basic qualification: BE/B.Tech in Computer Science, Computer Science & Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Cyber Security or equivalent specified discipline with at least 50% marks; OR MCA; OR MTech/MSc in the specified computer/IT/software/electronics/cyber disciplines from a recognised institution.

Experience

SBI requires 15-20 years of post-qualification experience in Information Technology / Information Security across Banks, large corporates, PSUs, FIs, financial-services organisations or technology consulting firms. At least 5 years must be in the core domain of Information Security / Cyber Security / Cyber Defence in Banks or FIs at Senior Management level.

Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, CCISO or CISA; certificates should be valid on the interview date. Teaching and training experience is expressly excluded from eligibility experience.

Vacancy Details

SBI states that posting is indicative and the Bank may post or transfer the officer according to service requirements.

Application Fee

• General / EWS / OBC: Rs. 750 (non-refundable).
• SC / ST / PwBD: No fee or intimation charge.

Selection Process

1. Shortlisting: Meeting minimum eligibility does not guarantee an interview call. SBI decides the shortlisting parameters.
2. Interview + presentation: The interview includes a 10-minute presentation on the relevant job profile, projects undertaken or milestones achieved. Interview carries 100 marks.
3. Merit: Final merit is based on interview marks only. At a tie on the cut-off point, the older candidate ranks higher.
4. CTC negotiation: Conducted in merit order. If a selected candidate does not agree with the negotiated CTC, SBI treats it as voluntary exit and may move to the next candidate.

Contract and CTC

Annual CTC is negotiable up to Rs. 2.50 crore and is split 90% fixed / 10% variable. The initial contract is 3 years and may be renewed for up to 2 more years at SBI discretion.

No Written Examination

This is a senior specialist hiring process. Interview preparation should be evidence-led and centred on the official job profile.

Interview Preparation Priorities

• Cyber-security strategy, governance and regulatory compliance.
• Board-level communication on cyber risk and resilience.
• SOC operations, threat intelligence, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing and incident response.
• Security architecture, cloud security, IAM/PAM and critical infrastructure protection.
• Cyber Crisis Management, business continuity/disaster recovery and security-by-design for emerging technologies such as AI/ML.
• Prepare a concise 10-minute presentation using measurable project outcomes and leadership examples.
