Who can apply?

Post Age on the cut-off date Qualification
Office Assistant (Multipurpose) 18 to 28 years Bachelor's degree in any discipline
Officer Scale-I Above 18, below 30 years Bachelor's degree in any discipline; preference for Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agri-Engineering, Pisciculture, Agri-Marketing, Co-operation & Banking, Economics, Accountancy, Finance, Law, IT, Management
Officer Scale-II (General Banking) Above 21, below 32 years Bachelor's degree + 2 years' experience as an officer in a bank or financial institution
Officer Scale-II (Specialist) Above 21, below 32 years Stream-specific degree (CA / Law / IT / MBA-Finance-Marketing / Agriculture etc.) plus the experience prescribed for that stream
Officer Scale-III Above 21, below 40 years Bachelor's degree + 5 years' experience as an officer in a bank or financial institution

Age relaxation

  • SC / ST โ€” 5 years
  • OBC (non-creamy layer) โ€” 3 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities โ€” 10 years
  • Ex-servicemen and widows / divorced women โ€” as per the relaxation table in the official notification

The requirement candidates forget

Local language proficiency. Most participating RRBs require you to be proficient in the official language of the state you are applying to, and this is verified at the document-verification stage โ€” not at the application stage. Confirm the language condition for your chosen RRB inside the notification before you apply.

Post-wise seat distribution โ€” CRP RRBs-XV

Cadre Commonly called Seats Share of total
Office Assistant (Multipurpose) RRB Clerk 8,183 ~60%
Officer Scale-I RRB PO 4,256 ~31%
Officer Scale-II Manager (General & Specialist) 1,047 ~8%
Officer Scale-III Senior Manager 220 ~1.6%
Total 13,706 100%

Read this before you pick a bank: these are national totals. IBPS publishes a separate state-wise and RRB-wise annexure inside the notification PDF, and you can apply to only one RRB per post. A state with 40 Office Assistant seats and a state with 900 are both inside the 8,183 figure โ€” check the annexure, not the headline.

Officer Scale-II is further split into General Banking Officer and Specialist Officer streams (IT, CA, Law, Treasury, Marketing, Agricultural Officer), each with its own qualification requirement.

What you pay

Category Officer Scale-I, II & III Office Assistant
SC / ST / PwBD โ‚น175 โ‚น175
All other candidates (Gen / OBC / EWS) โ‚น850 โ‚น850
Ex-servicemen / DESM โ‚น175

Payment rules

  • Fee is paid online only โ€” debit card, credit card, net banking, IMPS, cash cards or mobile wallets. No offline challan.
  • The fee must be paid on or before 21 September 2026. An application saved but not paid for is not a valid application.
  • The fee is non-refundable and cannot be carried forward to a later CRP.
  • If your payment is debited but the receipt does not generate, do not pay twice โ€” wait for the transaction to reconcile, then re-check your application status on the IBPS portal.

How you get selected โ€” stage by stage

Office Assistant (Multipurpose)

  1. Preliminary Exam (6, 12 & 13 December 2026) โ€” qualifying only; marks do not carry forward
  2. Main Exam (30 January 2027)
  3. Provisional allotment on Main Exam merit โ€” no interview for this cadre

Officer Scale-I

  1. Preliminary Exam (21 & 22 November 2026) โ€” qualifying only
  2. Main Exam (20 December 2026)
  3. Interview
  4. Final merit = 80% Main Exam + 20% Interview

Officer Scale-II & Scale-III

  1. Single Online Exam (20 December 2026) โ€” there is no preliminary stage
  2. Interview
  3. Final merit = 80% Single Exam + 20% Interview

Two things that decide your result

  • The prelims score is thrown away. For Office Assistant and Scale-I, prelims only decides who sits the Main. Your entire ranking comes from the Main Exam.
  • Negative marking is 0.25 of the mark for every wrong answer across the objective papers, and sectional cut-offs apply โ€” clearing the overall total is not enough.

Step-by-step: applying before 21 September

  1. Open the CRP RRBs section on ibps.in and choose the link for the post you want. Office Assistant and Officer applications are separate forms โ€” you may apply for both, and you pay for both.
  2. Register with a new ID. Enter your name exactly as printed on your Class 10 certificate. A mismatch here is the most common reason for rejection at document verification.
  3. Note your Registration Number and Password. They are sent by SMS and email, and you will need them for the admit card in November. Save them somewhere permanent now.
  4. Upload your documents in the prescribed formats before you start filling the form, so you are not resizing files against the clock.
  5. Choose your RRB and state carefully. This choice is effectively final and it determines your local-language requirement and your real competition ratio.
  6. Pay the fee online and download the e-receipt.
  7. Download and save the final PDF of the submitted application. Print one copy; some banks ask for it at joining.

Documents to keep ready before you start

Item Format
Photograph JPEG, 200 ร— 230 pixels, 20โ€“50 KB
Signature JPEG, 140 ร— 60 pixels, 10โ€“20 KB
Left thumb impression JPEG, 240 ร— 240 pixels, 20โ€“50 KB
Handwritten declaration JPEG, 800 ร— 400 pixels, 50โ€“100 KB โ€” written in English, in your own running handwriting, not capital letters
Degree certificate / marksheet For your own reference while filling the form
Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) Required later at document verification

Deadline behaviour: the IBPS portal is heavily loaded in the final 48 hours and payment gateways time out. Treat 19 September as your personal last date.

Why this notification matters

Regional Rural Bank posts are state-linked: you apply for a specific RRB and, in most cases, you must be proficient in that state’s local language. That makes the RRB exam the most realistic banking opportunity for candidates who want to work close to home, and it is why the Office Assistant cadre alone carries 8,183 of this year’s seats. The catch is that the window is only 21 days long and there is no extension guaranteed โ€” the fee must also be paid inside the same window.

Official links you should use

  • Apply Directly via the IBPS Online Portal (ibps.in) โ€” registration and fee payment both happen here.
  • Download the Official CRP RRBs-XV Notification PDF (ibps.in) โ€” read the state-wise vacancy annexure before choosing your RRB.

Always cross-check the state-wise and category-wise vacancy annexure inside the official PDF before you lock your bank preference โ€” those numbers decide your real competition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. They are separate applications with separate fees, and their prelims are on different dates (21โ€“22 November for Scale-I, 6/12/13 December for Office Assistant), so there is no clash. Both Main exams are also on different dates.

No. You must already hold a Bachelor's degree as on the cut-off date given in the notification. Unlike some SSC exams, IBPS RRB does not allow candidates whose result is still awaited.

For most participating RRBs, yes. Proficiency in the state's official language is a genuine eligibility condition and it is verified at document verification, not while applying โ€” so a candidate who clears the exam can still be rejected on this ground. Check your chosen RRB's language clause in the notification PDF.

No. The bank and state preference is not editable after final submission, and IBPS does not run a preference-change window. Decide before you pay.

No. For Office Assistant and Officer Scale-I the prelims is purely a screening stage. Your final rank comes from the Main Exam (plus the interview for officer posts).

No. Office Assistant selection ends at the Main Exam and provisional allotment. Interviews apply only to Officer Scale-I, II and III.

Do not submit a second payment immediately. Wait for the transaction to reconcile and re-check your status on the IBPS portal; if it is still unpaid after a full working day, raise it with IBPS through the portal's grievance link well before 21 September.
