Offline payment is not accepted.
Combined Civil Services Examination – IV is a single-stage written examination (OMR, objective type), followed by onscreen certificate verification, physical certificate verification and counselling as applicable. The ranking list is based on total written marks, with tie-breaks by higher qualification (and higher typewriting/shorthand grade for typing posts), then age, then application date. Forest posts also have physical standards and an endurance test.
Scheme of examination (10 January 2027, 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM)
| Part | Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test (SSLC standard) | 100 | 150 |
| B | General Studies | 75 | 150 |
| C | Aptitude and Mental Ability | 25 | |
| Total (3 hours) | 200 | 300 |
Parts B and C are evaluated only if the candidate scores at least 60 out of 150 (40%) in Part A. The minimum qualifying mark for all communities is 90 out of 300; these are thresholds, not selection cut-offs. Differently abled candidates who studied only English in their Board/University can opt for General English (SSLC standard) instead of the Tamil test, with the required certificate uploaded at the time of applying.
Forest Watcher and Forest Guard with Driving Licence
| Standard | Male | Female and Third Gender |
|---|---|---|
| Height (other than ST) | 163 cm | 150 cm |
| Height (ST) | 152 cm | 145 cm |
| Chest (normal / expansion) | 79 cm / 5 cm | 74 cm / 5 cm |
| Endurance test | 25 km walk in 4 hours | 16 km walk in 4 hours |
The Physical Standards Test and Endurance Test are held only in Chennai. Forest Guard with Driving Licence also needs unaided vision of 6/6 distance and 0.5 (Snellen) near vision in each eye, with the eye-fitness certificate in the prescribed format. Outstanding-sportsperson Forest Watcher vacancies are ranked by sports achievement marks after the candidate meets the minimum written, physical and endurance requirements.
- Open the official TNPSC application portal (apply.tnpscexams.in) and select Notification 11/2026. Create a One Time Registration (OTR) or log in to your existing valid OTR, using your own e-mail ID and mobile number. Aadhaar linking with OTR is mandatory.
- Match your post code with the education, typing/shorthand grade, age and post-specific conditions. Choose the post option carefully: “Posts other than Forest Guard with Driving Licence / Forest Watcher” or “All the Posts”. Choosing forest posts brings extra physical requirements.
- Fill in the examination application, choose two examination centres (persons with benchmark disability choose one), and upload the photograph, signature and documents asked for. Make truthful reservation and fee-concession claims.
- Pay the Rs 100 examination fee online or claim a valid concession. Review the preview and click SUBMIT before 11:59 PM on 5 November 2026. A preview alone is not a submitted application.
- Keep the application ID, final acknowledgement and payment evidence. Use the correction window (9 November 2026, 12:01 AM to 11 November 2026, 11:59 PM) for permitted changes; no changes are allowed after it.
Apply only through the official TNPSC portal. Do not pay through unofficial links or agents. Queries on OTR and the online application: helpdesk@tnpscexams.in or toll-free 1800 419 0958 (working days, 10 AM to 5:45 PM).

Choose by Post Code, Not by Post Name
Do not choose a post from its title alone. Similar Junior Assistant or Typist labels can have different qualifications and service conditions. The post code is the safest way to match the application choice to the notification.
Start with the relevant qualification group in the Eligibility tab. Candidates with a typing or shorthand certificate should match both the language and grade. A degree does not automatically replace a technical certificate, and passing the examination does not by itself establish eligibility for every post.
