SSC CHSL 2026 Educational Qualification
For Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) and most Data Entry Operator (DEO) posts, candidates must have passed the 12th Standard or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University.
For specified Data Entry Operator and Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed the 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
SSC CHSL 2026 Age Limit
The prescribed age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 01 August 2026. Candidates must have been born not before 02 August 1999 and not later than 01 August 2008. Category-wise relaxation applies according to the SSC notification.

SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process
SSC CHSL 2026 will be conducted through Tier-I and Tier-II computer-based examinations. Tier-II also includes the applicable Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test or Typing Test requirements.

Total 100 questions for 200 marks in 60 minutes, with a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each part (80 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe). Questions are objective multiple choice. 0.50 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Parts II, III and IV are set in English, Hindi and the other language the candidate opted for.

Sections I–III are held in Session-I (2 hours 15 minutes) and Section IV in Session-II, on the same day. 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer in Sections I, II and III, and candidates must qualify every section of Tier-II.
Typing / Skill Test Requirements
- LDC/JSA typing test: 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi (about 10,500 / 9,000 key depressions per hour), passage typed in 10 minutes. The medium chosen in the application form is final.
- DEO/DEO Grade 'A' in the departments named at Para 8.1 of the notice: 15,000 key depressions per hour, 15-minute test.
- Other DEO/DEO Grade 'A' posts: 8,000 key depressions per hour, 15-minute test.
Minimum qualifying marks in Tier-I and in Sections I–III of Tier-II: UR 30%, OBC/EWS 25%, all other categories 20%. The final merit list is prepared on the aggregate of Tier-II Section-I and Section-II only, subject to qualifying Sections III and IV.
