Height is relaxable by 5 cm for men and 2.5 cm for women, and the female weight standard by 2 kg, for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas and Scheduled Tribe candidates. MTS candidates face no physical test of any kind.
Selection Process
For Multi-Tasking Staff: Computer Based Examination → Document Verification → final merit. There is no physical test.
For Havaldar (CBIC & CBN): Computer Based Examination → Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test → Document Verification → final merit.

This asymmetry is the whole strategy. Session I has no penalty at all, so every question should be marked — leaving a blank there is pure loss. Session II deducts a full mark for a wrong answer against three marks for a right one, so a guess there is a genuinely bad bet. Candidates who apply one blanket approach to both sessions leave marks on the table.

Applications ended on 31 July 2026 and SSC does not reopen MTS windows. If you applied, work through this before your exam date:
- Find your SSC regional office and bookmark its website. Admit cards for MTS are published region-wise — CR, ER, NR, NWR, MPR, SR, WR, KKR and NER each publish separately. Watching only ssc.gov.in is how candidates miss the release.
- Download the exam-city intimation slip when it appears, roughly ten days before your sitting. It gives you the city so you can arrange travel; it is not the admit card.
- Download the admit card itself about four days before the exam, through your SSC candidate login.
- Check the photograph on the admit card. SSC turns candidates away at the gate for a photograph that does not match, is unclear, or is older than the notification permits.
- Carry the printed admit card and one original photo ID — Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport or Driving Licence. A photocopy is not accepted.
- Havaldar applicants: start preparing for the PET now. The walk is qualifying but it eliminates candidates every cycle, and it comes only weeks after the CBE result.
