NTA Bilingual Typist & Operations Assistant Eligibility 2026
The essential educational qualification is 12th Standard (Higher Secondary) or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University. A degree is not required. The real filter in this recruitment is not the academic threshold but the bilingual typing evidence.
Language and Typing Requirement
- Candidates must be proficient in two of the 13 specified languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
- One is the primary language, and the candidate is considered against that language-specific vacancy. The second is chosen from the remaining 12 specified languages.
- Proficiency in both languages must cover reading, writing and typing.
- Candidates must provide valid documentary proof or evidence from a credible source showing a typing speed of 40 WPM or more with more than 90 percent accuracy in both languages.
- The claimed typing proficiency is also subject to verification through NTA's prescribed practical skill test, so the certificate alone is not the end of it.
Age
Minimum 21 years and maximum 62 years, as on the date of application. This is an unusually wide window because the engagement is contractual rather than a regular government entry post.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Basic proficiency in PDF handling, scanning, document conversion and file-format management.
- Relevant experience in typing, data entry or document processing.
- Experience in proofreading, editing or language-quality checking, particularly of translated or multilingual content.
- Experience in DTP, document composition, pagination or structured document formatting.
- Experience in MIS, data compilation, reporting and administrative support.
Skills to Acquire After Joining
Selected candidates must acquire, within six months of joining, functional English typing proficiency where not already possessed, and working knowledge of MathType and InDesign as required for their assigned duties. These are obligations after selection, not application-stage requirements.

Confidentiality and Security
Selected candidates must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement before joining, and may also have to complete security verification and clearance. All documents, records and data handled during the engagement are strictly confidential, the working environment is controlled and restricted, and the confidentiality obligation continues after the engagement ends.
Application Fee
The official NTA vacancy notification for Advertisement No. E-15326 does not specify any application fee for this engagement.
No fee amount is stated on this page because none appears in the official notice. Candidates should not pay any amount to any third party claiming to process this application, and should treat any request for a fee as suspect unless NTA itself issues a separate official clarification.
NTA Bilingual Typist Selection Process 2026
- Email application: send the Annexure-I application and documents to the email address given in the vacancy notification, mentioning your primary language in the subject line.
- Scrutiny: NTA examines applications against the prescribed eligibility criteria and relevant experience.
- Shortlisting: only shortlisted candidates go forward. Merely meeting the minimum eligibility confers no right to be shortlisted or selected.
- Test / practical skill assessment / interview: shortlisted candidates may have to attend at designated premises. NTA may prescribe additional practical tests, assessments or interviews it considers appropriate.
- Final selection: at the discretion of the competent authority.
What the Practical Assessment May Cover
NTA lists these attributes in the notification:
- Typing speed and accuracy in the two languages claimed by the candidate.
- Reading, writing and language proficiency in the applicable languages.
- Proofreading and identification of typographical, grammatical and formatting errors.
- Typing, transcription and document-formatting ability.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Basic PDF handling, document conversion and file-format management.
- Ability to compile data and prepare MIS reports.
- Familiarity with MathType and InDesign, where applicable.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and prescribed workflows.
After Selection
Work and performance may be reviewed periodically, including typing accuracy and productivity, quality of document processing, administrative and reporting work, adherence to timelines and compliance with security protocols. Continued engagement and any extension depend on that review and on continuing organisational requirement.
How to Prepare for the NTA Practical Skill Assessment
NTA has not published a written-exam syllabus for this engagement, because there is no conventional written examination. The notification instead lists the attributes that may be checked in a practical assessment, so preparation should be task-based rather than theory-based.
Bilingual Typing
Practise both claimed languages at or above 40 WPM while holding accuracy above 90 percent. Accuracy is the harder half of that requirement: NTA separately assesses proofreading and error identification, so build the habit of checking punctuation, spacing, script consistency and formatting as you type rather than afterwards.
Document Processing
Practise recreating structured documents in MS Word with tables, headings and page formatting, converting files to and from PDF, scanning, and managing file formats. These map directly onto the desirable qualifications and the listed assessment attributes.
Office and Reporting Skills
Refresh basic Excel and PowerPoint work and simple MIS or data-compilation tasks. Familiarity with MathType and InDesign may help where applicable; the notification does not make them mandatory at the application stage, though selected candidates must acquire working knowledge of both within six months of joining.
A Suggested Practice Block
A useful hour is roughly 20 minutes of primary-language typing, 20 minutes of second-language typing, 15 minutes of proofreading, and 15 minutes recreating a formatted document in Word and exporting it to PDF. This is our editorial suggestion based on the attributes NTA lists, not an official test schedule.
How to Apply for NTA Bilingual Typist & Operations Assistant 2026
- Download the official NTA vacancy notification for Advertisement No. E-15326. Annexure-I inside that same PDF is the application form â there is no separate form to look for.
- Choose the one primary language matching the language-specific vacancy you are applying against, and identify your second language from the remaining 12 specified languages.
- Complete Annexure-I in full: personal details, language and typing proficiency, educational qualifications, desirable skills and work experience.
- Attach self-attested copies of the documents Annexure-I lists: photo ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN or Passport), date-of-birth proof, educational certificates and mark sheets, category certificate if applicable, typing speed and accuracy proof for both languages, experience certificates, resume or CV, and a passport-size photograph.
- Sign the declaration in Annexure-I. It records that you understand the engagement is purely contractual and confers no right to regularisation.
- Write an email subject that clearly states the primary language you are applying for, as the notification requires.
- Email the complete application to dir-admin@nta.gov.in.
- Make sure it reaches NTA by 16 September 2026. The notification gives no closing time, so do not leave it to the last hours of the day.
Check before you send: that the primary language on Annexure-I matches the vacancy you are applying against, that your typing evidence covers both claimed languages, and that every attachment is self-attested. A missing second-language typing proof is the easiest way to fail scrutiny.
Full Details
The National Testing Agency has invited applications for 12 Bilingual Typist & Operations Assistant positions under Advertisement No. E-15326, issued on 02 September 2026. The engagement is contractual for five years and pays a consolidated Rs. 75,000 per month. Applications are not made through an online portal: the completed Annexure-I form and supporting documents must reach NTA by email at dir-admin@nta.gov.in by 16 September 2026.
Why This Vacancy Is Unusual
The academic bar is only Class 12, but the functional bar is much higher than a typical clerical post. NTA is paying Rs. 75,000 a month for people who can work accurately across two languages, handle document-heavy examination workflows and operate under strict confidentiality and security controls. The best-fit candidate is not simply a fast typist but a bilingual document-processing operator who combines speed, language accuracy, proofreading discipline and office-software competence.
Five Things Applicants Miss
- The vacancy is language-specific. There is one position per language, and you apply against a single primary language.
- Two languages are essential, not one. You must show reading, writing and typing proficiency in both, and your typing evidence must cover both.
- Typing proof is a document, not a claim. NTA asks for valid documentary proof from a credible source showing 40 WPM or more with over 90 percent accuracy â and may still re-test it practically.
- The application form is inside the notification PDF. Annexure-I is part of the same 10-page file. Sending a CV alone does not follow the notice.
- Your email subject must name your primary language. The notification requires it.
What You Are Signing Up For
This is a fixed-term contract, not a route into permanent government service. The notification states that the engagement confers no right to regularisation, permanent absorption or appointment to any regular post, and the declaration in Annexure-I asks you to acknowledge that in writing. Leave is eight days a year on a pro-rata basis plus NTA’s public holidays, with no entitlement to any other leave, allowance or benefit. Either side can end the engagement with one month’s written notice, and NTA can end it without notice for unsatisfactory performance, misconduct or a breach of confidentiality or security requirements.
Against that, the terms are genuinely attractive for a Class-12-entry role: Rs. 75,000 a month, a five-year horizon with extension possible on performance, and work at NTA premises on national examination operations.
Before You Send the Email
Check three things. That the primary language on Annexure-I matches the vacancy you are applying against. That your typing evidence covers both claimed languages, not just the primary one. And that every attachment is self-attested. A missing second-language typing proof is the easiest way to fail scrutiny before anyone reads the rest of your application.
