Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) released CEN 09/2025 on 30 January 2026 for 22,195 Level-1 Group D vacancies including Track Maintainer Grade IV, Pointsman, Assistant (Loco Shed), Assistant (Operations) and Assistant (TL & AC). Online application ran from 31 January to 9 March 2026 (now closed). The CBT was conducted from 3–25 August 2026 (16 exam days), per the RRBs' notice dated 7 September 2026. Selection: Single stage CBT → PET → DV → Medical. Starting basic pay: Rs. 18,000/month (Pay Level 1).

⚠️ Important: CBT is qualifying + merit deciding (combined). CBT marks determine PET shortlisting. PwBD with scribe get 120 minutes instead of 90 minutes. Normalization applied for multi-session exams. Exam available in 15 languages including Hindi, English, Urdu and other regional languages.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — Qualifying Stage

Candidates shortlisted in CBT are called for PET. PET is qualifying — pass or fail, marks not counted in merit. CBT merit is used for final selection.

A. Nahi. RRB Group D 2026 mein single stage CBT hai — koi CBT 2 nahi hota. Selection process: CBT (1 stage only) → PET → Document Verification → Medical Examination. Yeh RRB NTPC se alag hai jisme CBT 1 aur CBT 2 dono hote hain.
A. CBT mein 100 MCQ questions hote hain, 90 minutes mein: General Science (25 Qs/25 marks), Mathematics (25 Qs/25 marks), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 Qs/30 marks), General Awareness & Current Affairs (20 Qs/20 marks). Total: 100 marks. Negative marking: 1/3 per wrong answer.

  • Reasoning (30 marks): Analogies, Coding-Decoding, Number Series, Venn Diagrams. Most questions are straightforward — practice for speed.
  • General Awareness (20 marks): Current Affairs of last 6 months + Static GK (History, Polity, Sports). Read daily news 15 minutes.
  • PET Training: Run 1000m daily from now. Build stamina gradually. Don't ignore PET — many clear CBT but fail PET!
