What Changed
On 08.10.2026 UPESSC notified that, under a UP government order dated 07.10.2026, the Acharya (Sanskrit) degree of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi is treated as a post-graduate degree. Holders of that degree can apply for Lecturer (Sanskrit) under Advt. 06/2026. The notice repeats that the last date was 17.10.2026.
UPESSC PGT and UPESSC Primary Teacher Are Different

Eligibility by Subject
For most of the 26 subjects the qualification is a post-graduate degree in that subject from a recognised university, and a B.Ed from an NCTE-recognised course. Subject-specific exceptions in the advertisement:
- Hindi: PG in Hindi and graduation (BA) with Sanskrit, plus B.Ed.
- History: PG in Ancient, Medieval or Modern History, plus B.Ed.
- Drawing (Chitrakala): PG in drawing and painting, plus B.Ed.
- Education (Shikshashastra): PG in Psychology or Education, plus B.Ed.
- Music (vocal / instrumental): PG in music, or graduation with music plus a specialised music qualification, plus B.Ed.
- Home Science: PG in Home Science, or B.Sc Home Science, plus B.Ed.
- Physical Education: graduation and M.P.Ed.
- Military Science: PG in Military Science, Defence Studies or Military Studies, plus B.Ed.
- Ranjan Kala: high school and a diploma in fine arts with painting from a recognised art school, plus B.Ed.

Qualifications must be held by the last date of application. Date of birth is taken only from the high-school certificate.
